Salta Description

Description

The Climate Change and Adaptation in Ecosystems and Societies course spans 12 hours of training (videos and quizs) and 38h of individual work. The MOOC is structured into five modules, each focusing on a specific aspect of climate change. The course covers topics ranging from the phenomenology of climate change to the framework of climate governance. Each module includes a series of short videos (maximum 14 minutes) on key topics, followed by a quiz at the end to assess participants' comprehension and knowledge acquisition.

This course is designed as a tool to provide participants with fundamental knowledge on key aspects of climate change, including its phenomenology, the current state of the climate system, potential future scenarios, and the present impacts of extreme weather events and climate extremes. One of the section is dedicated to examining the commitments currently implemented by climate governance and EU to address the ongoing climate crisis, highlighting best practices at the global level. Additionally, it offers reflections on climate movements and ongoing initiatives aimed at moving beyond the climate emergency, envisioning diverse post-extractivist futures.

Edoardo Crescini Di Montevecchio Benedetti

Edoardo Crescini is a naturalist geographer at the University of Padua. His research employs innovative geographic technologies (GIS, drones, and remote sensing) to promote participatory processes of independent territorial monitoring. He focuses on the concept of the Plantationocene and on the neocolonial and neoliberal dynamics linked to monocultural oil palm plantations, developing possible agroecological transition plans as alternatives to the current agro-industrial model in Ecuador. His work also addresses climate justice, fossil fuel phase-out processes, and the urban impacts of the climate crisis, with particular attention to the development of proactive adaptation and mitigation policies.
