Description

This course responds to a growing demand for qualified professionals capable of improving the quality of specialized translation at the local, national, and international levels. It aims to provide specialized training in digital multilingual terminology management for professional translators. The rapid processes of globalization and business internationalization require advanced skills in terminology data management, which are essential to ensure consistency and accuracy in multilingual communication.
Objectives:

  • Understand the principles of multilingual terminology management and acquire state-of-the-art practices.
  • Develop practical skills to design, update, and manage multilingual terminology databases using advanced technological tools.
  • Enhance the quality of specialized translation and multilingual communication to ensure accuracy, consistency, and effectiveness of the final product.

Federica Vezzani is Tenure-Track Assistant Professor (RTDb) at the Department of Linguistics and Literary Studies of the University of Padua. Her research focuses on FAIR terminology, terminology ISO-standards, and specialized translation.

After attending the course will be able to:

  • Apply the knowledge acquired to manage multilingual terminology databases independently and to a professional standard, using advanced digital tools such as spreadsheets, MultiTerm, and FAIRterm;
  • Integrate terminology resources into specialized translation workflows, adapting their expertise to the needs of complex projects;
  • Use international standards, such as the TBX format, to ensure the consistency and interoperability of terminology databases, applying best practices in data management.

The course is aimed at professional translators, technical communicators, terminologists, and anyone working in the field of translation and multilingual communication who is seeking theoretical, methodological, and technological updates.
According to data provided by the Italian Association of Translators and Interpreters (AITI), and based on the Italian Revenue Agency’s guidelines for completing the ISA (Synthetic Reliability Indexes), in 2020 there were 1,752 taxpayers primarily offering translation services. In numerical terms, the course could therefore potentially be of interest to this pool of professionals.

Prerequisites

  • Language skills: Proficiency in at least two languages.
  • Professional experience: Practical experience in the field of translation or technical communication is recommended, but not required.
  • Technical skills: Familiarity with basic technological tools.
Salta Enrolment and micro-credential

Enrolment and micro-credential

Course enrollment includes:

1. Basic Course Access: €300

  • This allows you to attend all lessons.
  • It does not include access to the Certification Area for the issuance of the Micro-credential.

2. Access to the Certification Area: additional €150

  • Includes:
    • Final assessment test
    • Issuance of the Micro-credential

For graduates of the University of Padua

Graduates of the University of Padua are entitled to free enrollment in one online professional development course per year, including the related micro-credential, among which is this course.

To be eligible for the free enrollment, it is necessary to log in to the platform using SPID, CIE, or SSO, allowing the system to verify the tax identification code.

Requirements for the issuance of the Micro-credential

To receive the Micro-credential, in addition to payment, you must:

  • complete all mandatory course activities;
  • pass the final test;
  • fill in all required fields in your user profile;
  • upload a valid identity document.

After enrolling in the course, you will find all the instructions needed to make the €150 payment required to access the Certification Area and obtain the Micro-credential.
